Utopian visionaries, of course, dream of immortality, and an entire industry has arisen that cryogenically freezes the dead in the hopes of being thawed at some unknown future day when medicine has conquered disease and aging. Utopian is the key qualifier to this dream. To be sure,we Christians do believe in immortality, but it is the God-induced kind. The Scriptures promise that a Day is coming when all those alive and dead in Christ will rise to meet Him in the air, and in resurrection bodies,will live with Him forever both on this Earth made new and in a heavenly home that God is preparing for all those who have, and will receive, the free gift of His salvation.
This is the possible dream, the One Way to immortality. Until that great Day, our challenge is always to live well in a fallen worldone in which death and disease will remain with us as the inevitable consequences of sin. We are challenged, again, in the Scriptures to finish well the race that God has given each of us to run. And it is distressing to know so manyand hear of so many morewho dont finish well. There are so many good people whose lives are shipwrecked, or who become entrapped in the shoals of sexual addiction, materialistic greed, power, fear, bitterness, or spiritual anomie.

Isnt that the word we all want to hear from the Master of Life? If so,God Himself will enable it if we would only ask Him. Remember, if we arent living well, if we dont have it, it may be more because we dont ask Himevery day in fervent and focused prayer. God will grant miracles to everyone who asks. Some with broken bodies will rise up and walk in miraculous physical healings. Others will be given transformed hearts and minds, able to say that God has blessed and taught them great things in the midst of their infirmities. All will be blessed with Gods presence come near and that is all we need.
